Results Report

The results of the Pharmacogenetic analysis will be sent to you and your physician via e-mail or post within 15 working days from the day our laboratory receives your sample. The report provides you with valuable information about drug - gene interactions, as well as the interpetation of such pharmacogenomic associations.

The report analyses 24 genetic polymorphisms and their alleles.

This information derives from the analysis of the DNA sample and is then interpreted based on Pharmacogenetic science. In addition, there is information on factors affecting drug efficacy and / or safety depending on the patient's pharmacogenetic profile.
More specifically, information is provided regarding drug administration, including response, clearance and metabolism of drugs, as well as side effects such as weight gain, metabolic syndrome, hypertriglyceridaemia and tardive dyskinesia.

The successful development of new drugs has increased life expectancy up to 30 years. Nevertheless, determining the appropriate dose and controlling side effects remain up to today the core challenges in drug therapies, and especially for Central Nervous System (CNS) disease treatment.

There is an increasing number of studies showing that drug response can be influenced by genetic factors that determine its metabolism, absorption, excretion or action. Genes account for inter-individual differences in response to the same drug type and dose by patients with the same disease. Genes can also justify why some individuals experience serious side effects after specific drug administration, while others do not.

Therefore, the same drug may affect each patient differently, both in terms of positive response to treatment, as well as in terms of side effects.
